JOY & GLADNESS FROM HAITIAN CHILDREN & TEENS IN HAITI – IN THE MIDST OF THEIR MANY HARDSHIPS & CHALLENGES!

Six Church congregations along with Individuals in their communities received filled "Backpacks of Hope", Baby & Toddler Bundles in Drawstring Bags, Boxes of Diapers & Raincoats because Canadian and American Donors gave, sewed, crocheted & knitted to make the lives of others better in this country under extreme duress. 🇨🇦&🇺🇸 – A HUGE THANK YOU!
Distribution took 6 weeks to complete due to the security situation. The Children and Teens along with their Parents who received all this “love in a bag or box” for them, literally sang their thanks in a video and smiled for this photo and others that returned with their impact report – expressing their deepest gratitude for all those who generously gave to them.

With shipment requests increasing, we need a "SEW STORM" of compassionate SEWERS willing to make one or more DRAWSTRING BAGS for Mothers living in poverty and with need! Will you help us?

When we receive your special bag, we will turn it into a complete BABY or TODDLER BUNDLE for a Mother – packed with a handmade crocheted/knitted Blanket or Quilt, loving Teddy Bear and age appropriate outfit of clothing that includes a little warm hat!

Recommended Fabrics:
Waterproof fabric (if possible)
Denim
Generally thicker fabrics or doubling of lighter fabrics
Seam allowance on sides - minimum 1/2”

EASTER Blessings in the form of Jabez Blanket Ministry Bagged Bundles arrived as Easter Gifts to be given out to Women in the temporary shelter, known as "Belinda's Place", Newmarket, ON. Handmade Quilts bursting with beauty will help brighten lives being "re-built", together with a personal, irresistible Teddy Bear for reassuring hugs.

In addition, this Salvation Army run supporting service also working with Youth, received 95 handmade Pencil Cases with School Supplies inside, and a Booklet telling of the love of Jesus for them, accompanied by Duotangs of lined paper, for their Sutton Youth Services.

POINSETTIAS, PINE & GIVING PEOPLE with generous hearts – Christmas in Canada!

A HUGE THANK YOU to our incredibly kind hearted and devoted Jabez Blanket Ministry DONORS who GAVE TO GIVE to Canadians and Would-Be-Canadians!

Hundreds of both the young and seasoned have the opportunity to head out the doors of both the "Scott Mission" (Toronto, ON) and "Kingston Bridges" (at The Alliance Church, Kingston, ON) this Christmas, with their own warm blanket or quilt, wrapped in either a drawstring bag or a backpack together with a new snuggly Teddy Bear Friend, a pair of warm socks, a hat, scarf and/or a variety of other helpful items of their choosing, because Folks that care about others GAVE their time, talents and treasures! Their heart-felt vision to bring comforts to better the lives of others who are struggling, is truly a thing of beauty to celebrate! Not only are these Folks with need to be given gifts to carry back to their home, shelter or yes, even to the snowy street, but they will be receiving "love in action" expressed to them as well!

Interesting discovery around the poinsettia plant–The point on the poinsettia's flower and leaves are sometimes thought of as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem which God placed in the heavens, to lead the wise men to Jesus – the One who GAVE HIS ALL!

BIG SMILES in the little Kingdom of Eswatini, on the arrival of Jabez Blanket Ministry "Backpacks of Hope" for Janine & Ian Maxwell's growing Family of 300+ orphaned and vulnerable Children, on their Project Canaan Farm (Heart for Africa) – "A Place of Hope":
"Yet He (God) sets the poor on high, far from affliction, and makes their families like a flock. The righteous see it and rejoice..." Psalm 107:41 & 42a

SOWING LOVE AND HOPE IN ESWATINI! The Children of Eswatini, scattered throughout their little Kingdom in a vast African continent, would be left hopeless to exist in their extreme poverty, hunger and disease, if it were not for the rare defenders, Janine and Ian Maxwell, co-founders of HEART FOR AFRICA, a faith-based humanitarian organization who said, "It's Not Okay With Me!". (See Janine's book by this title.) Determined to plant seeds of hope into the hearts of these precious Children, they re-directed their lives to rescue, house, feed, and educate orphaned and vulnerable Children on their PROJECT CANAAN FARM of 2500 acres. From this life giving source, they provide home grown food packs to share, via their network of 30 rural church partnerships, with many thousands who would be starving otherwise. Teaming up to cultivate and stir up more hope for this Kingdom with enormous need, JABEZ BLANKET MINISTRY was asked to gather and pack BACKPACKS OF HOPE with tangible expressions of love from North Americans! So, Jabez Blanket Makers got to work making warm, colourful blankets and sewn pencil cases. Diligent Jabez Shoppers went in search of essential school supplies and kind hearted Donors enabled the special purchase of teddy bears, backpacks and supplies along with helping to meet shipping costs. What would "Backpacks of Hope" be, without including Booklets in the Siswati language sharing THE Hope found from above! Can you imagine what hope looks like, feels like and cultivates when it's planted in the heart of a Child? That's a whole lot of newly experienced love and joy! Update on Shipment to Cameroon...

WE ASKED FOR YOUR HELP AND YOU GAVE SO GENEROUSLY THAT WE WERE ABLE TO LOAD UP NOT ONE BUT TWO TRAILER LOADS WITH ALL YOUR AMAZING GIFTS!!!

40 LARGE BOXES were delivered at the end of August to Hope & Healing International, Richmond Hill, ON.

We are thrilled to report 397 FILLED Drawstring Bags for younger Children, 87 FILLED Backpacks for older Children and 40 Baby Blankets for Infants are now making their way across the ocean to comfort, delight and provide education supplies to precious Children, many of whom struggle daily with unimaginable physical and situational challenges but have the desire to learn!

We cannot thank you enough for making this effort possible!

Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services have the honour of distributing YOUR GIFTS through their compassionate mobile clinics and their network of organizations who educate Children with disabilities.

WE HAVE AN IMMEDIATE NEED FOR YOUR HELP TO REACH CHILDREN WHO ARE AMONG THE VERY POOREST IN CAMEROON!

We are excited to announce that our next outreach will be to Children in Cameroon, in central Africa, the poorest of the poor, many with disabilities who are living in either facilities or within their own impoverished communities, most stricken with humanitarian crisis situations - BUT together with YOU we can help to brighten their world & bring them many comforts and tangible help and hope with BLANKETS, TEDDY BEARS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, TOY BALLS & BOOKLETS telling of the love of Jesus for them!

In partnership with Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Service in Cameroon and Hope and Healing International (Richmond Hill, ON), we anticipate shipping in August "love in a bag" to HUNDREDS of Children who will receive BABY & TODDLER BUNDLES (up to age 4) in Drawstring Bags and filled BACKPACKS OF HOPE (for older Children). The compassionate staff of CBCHS will distribute these gifts through their mobile clinics and their network of organizations who are providing education to Children with disabilities - as an expression of the love of Christ! Can you imagine the smiles that will appear on their faces and all those heart hugs!

To speed up your stitches and compassionate response, we have newly added CHUNKY YARN (THICKER SO QUICKER TO WORK UP) as a recommended yarn for JBM Blankets for you or others you may know who can lend a helping hand in this dire situation.

Blankets made with Knitting Worsted Weight continue however to be a forever well loved staple!

KINDLY NOTE: To modify our "Granny Square" Blanket Pattern (printable from our website) to a CHUNKY YARN, the same 4.5 mm crochet hook can be used but each square requires only 6 rows (instead of 7)!
